ROTOTEST in RDE applications
With the introduction of the RDE (Real Driving Emissions) legislation the challenges for emission calibration engineers increased by orders of magnitude. Even though the procedure includes some limitations in accepted driving style, its introduction generally opened the full operating range of the engine for scrutiny of emission levels. Although the actual certification of RDE is run on road using PEMS (Portable Emission Measurement System) a huge amount of development work is conducted in lab environment on dynamometers.

Unprecedented repeatability
With a driving cycle of 1.5 to 2 hours for each RDE run, repeating the cycle is exceptionally time consuming and on public road unfeasible to achieve high repeatability due to varying traffic conditions. The ROTOTEST Energy has, in field tests for RDE run replication, been proven to achieve unprecedented levels of repeatability, much higher than typically achievable on traditional roller type dynamometers.
